The unruly jungle of far Faa Zymbia
I wanted an area of Shard that was essentially wild and untamed, an exotic jungle that teems with dangerous predators.
As the concept of Faa Zymbia developed I conciously steered away from the movie Avatar, although this in itself pays homage to the science fiction trope of a fantasy wilderness.
The Aching Deep of Ho'Chee'Rakor
I wanted a sense of enormous monstrous overlords that shared a Hive Mind which the player can choose to join at the expense of their Humanity.
This continued to develop into the idea of Hybrid Mech bodies animated by the Hive Mind.
The Chasm of Foss that sunders Voss...
The World of Voss is a hell like world of flaming chaos.
Instead of demons and devils inhabiting this realm I want to make it a Culture of fun loving hedonistic anarchists who live for the moment.
The riches of Besh...
La Porte Monumentale de La Place de La Concorde was completed in 1908 in Paris and was a centrepiece of the World Exhibition. I researched further and found an incredible resource of images on the Brooklyn Museum site.
I imagine Besh to be a culture of wealth built upon the manufacture of magical objects and machines.
